OPERA – THE KEIL CENTRE ON HUMAN FACTOR

Janette Edmonds, director of the Keil Centre, made an insightful presentation to OPERA on 13^th April 2021 entitled “Introduction to Human Factors & the Importance of Understanding Human Behaviour”. Analysis indicates that 80% of losses involve human factors either through error or violation of procedures. As such, it is imperative that barriers are installed to prevent human factors resulting in losses. This can be achieved retroactively by thorough investigation of all losses and proactively by conducting Safety Critical Task Analysis – and acting on the results of both.
